Day Trip to Ouzoud Waterfalls (Cascades d’Ouzoud)
We will collect you from your accommodation in Marrakech after breakfast and leave the mayhem of the city for the province of Azilal and the Cascades d’Ouzoud in the Atlas mountains. The drive will take us through many traditional Moroccan towns and villages where you will see orchards of olives and pomegranates and local farmers working their fields.
The Berber name Ouzoud means the act of grinding grain. Invisible until the very last minute these spectacular waterfalls are over 100metres in height and are often frequented by Morocco’s Barbary Apes. The backdrop of rainbows which form in the mist help to make this one of the prettiest falls in North Africa.
You can swim in the pools or let boatman row you to the main pool. A thousand steps lead you down to the bottom where the views are stunning and the photographic opportunities at their best. Alternatively, you can take the path down through the olive valley. This site is not over commercialised but there’s a choice of places to take a welcome break for lunch.

Day Trip to Essaouira (UNESCO Coastal Town)
We will collect you from your accommodation in Marrakech after breakfast and take a 2 ½ hour drive to the UNESCO World Heritage town of Essaouira.
This is a fun and relaxing day trip to catch some sea air and chance to unwind away from the hectic world of Marrakech. Formerly known as Mogador, it’s a surfer’s paradise and has an arty feel with a laid-back atmosphere.
The journey will take us through orange groves and olive farms and deep into argan country. These special trees are valued for their nutritive, cosmetic and numerous medicinal properties. The tree, a relict species from the Tertiary age, is extremely well adapted to drought and other environmentally difficult conditions of southwestern Morocco, and while now endangered, they are under the protection of UNESCO.
The whitewashed town with its blue-shuttered houses has a long promenade bordering a wide arc of sandy beach and you can enjoy grilled freshly caught fish for lunch whilst watching the waves roll in and out. In the medina, you can wander round the hassle-free souks filled with textiles, jewellery, ceramics, musical instruments and handmade wooden items. A visit to one of the markets located under the arcs is highly recommended and you can carpenters hard at work in their thuya wood workshops.
If you enjoy water sports they are all on offer here or just enjoy some beach time. At the end of the day trip we head back to Marrakech and our driver will take you back to your accommodation.

Day Trip to Ourika Valley (High Atlas Mountains)
At 8 am we will depart for a great day trip from the busy streets of Marrakech to land in the heart of the Atlas Mountains at the fertile Ourika Valley.
As you leave Marrakech, in your comfortable chauffeur driven vehicle, you will enjoy the scenic approach to the valley. The terrain is lined with flat, spiky cactus and eucalyptus trees, before reaching the foothills of the Atlas and hugging the left-hand bank of the fast-flowing river, prime hiking territory in all seasons. From its small beginnings in the Berber country, it streams down the slopes of Atlas mountains, between the Tlemcen peak and the Timeskar plateau.
Here the local people are riding donkeys and tending to goats. The green landscapes of this valley, the lazy meandering torrent of the river combined with the small red adobe Berber villages hanging on the slopes will enchant you. the flat Berber homes are assembled in stacked villages made of the same red earth that they merge into. The only vertical line that breaks the slither of horizontal roofs is that of the village mosque, whose minaret towers above it all. There are many interesting things on the way, according to the season and your special interests…hiking in the valley or Setti Fatma and the waterfalls… It’s so stunning.
Time at leisure before heading back at the end of your Day Trip to your accommodation in Marrakech.
Day Trip to Ait Ben Haddou (UNESCO Kasbah)
This trip takes us over the High Atlas through beautiful scenery and small villages as we follow the winding mountain road, the spectacular Tizi n Tichka Pass. We will follow part of the ancient caravan route used to transport goods to the Sultan’s court in Telouet. The imposing Kasbah, which provided a home for the sultan as well as his slaves and horses also contained a mosque. Discover the opulence and intrigue for yourselves before we drop into Ounila Valley canyon, one of the most scenic in Morocco. For lunch, you can enjoy a delicious meal at a variety of different options from hotels overlooking the valley to small restaurants by the side of the mountain pass.
In the afternoon we’ll reach Ait Benhaddou which is one of the most amazing kasbahs in the whole of Morocco and has been used as a film set on countless occasions. UNESCO listed the entire site, which you can freely wander. For breathtaking views, climb through the narrow stone alleyways to the summit or take the opportunity to ride a camel.
If time allows we will also visit the impressive film studios in Ouarzazate, the Hollywood of Morocco, where scenes of Gladiator, Lawrence of Arabia, The Last Temptation of Christ, The Mummy and Salmon Fishing in the Yemen (to name a few) were shot. There may even be a current set where you can spot the famous faces.
Then we will start the journey back to Marrakech by a different route, winding our way through beautiful valleys and mountain peaks to arrive in Marrakech at the end of the day.
Day Trip to Imlil (Mount Toubkal)
Imlil is a small Berber village in a fairy-tale location in the High Atlas Mountains, well known as a base for trekking and climbing holidays.
Mt Toubkal is the highest North African mountain at over 4ooo metres and Imlil sits at its base. These huge mountains offer outstanding trails and amazing photo opportunities. There are treks for all standards and plenty of mules available to ease your journey.
Ninety minutes drive from Marrakech this makes a wonderful day-trip and is definitely worth a visit. The village of Imlil has a few shops and much of the money goes to projects organised by the Village association such as litter collection and disposal and a Community Hammam. Before tourism became so important to this village, fruit trees were a vital part of the local economy and walnut trees can still be seen everywhere adding to the wonderful fresh scented mountain air.
We will take you to a welcoming family run guest house in the mountains where you will meet your English speaking trekking guide. After a couple of hours, when you have worked up an appetite, you will return to the guest house where lunch will be waiting for you. A traditional Moroccan meal, and in our opinion, the best, home-cooked food in all of Morocco.
Then in the afternoon, you can enjoy a bread making lesson, learning the traditional way to produce the famous Moroccan flatbread.
We will return to Marrakech around 6pm
Day Trip to Donkey Sanctuary (contact us for pricing)
This British NGO was created to look after orphaned, injured, old and discarded donkeys in Morocco. Susan and Charles, who live on site, are providing a heart-warming and desperately needed lifeline to Morocco’s donkeys whilst also promoting good animal husbandry techniques to the people in the nearby villages.
The local men who work at Jarjeer are taught by example to look at animals through kinder eyes and are given permission to care.
They are doing great work here but they need our help and So Morocco will donate £10 from every booking we take in 2018, to this charity / foundation. You can also support the donkeys by booking this day trip with us.
A So Morocco driver and car will collect you from your Marrakech accommodation and drive you and your family to the Donkey Sanctuary for a day or half day trip. Lunch can either be provided on request or we can arrange a picnic for you. Help by grooming and walking the donkeys and providing them with lots of love and cuddles or simply watch from the viewing gallery. Very small children will have the opportunity to ride the stronger donkeys with hard hats and saddles provided.
This is a meaningful, enjoyable and extremely pleasant day trip and you can also enjoy exploring the pretty village of Oumnass. When you’re ready to leave, our driver will take you back to your riad or hotel.
Day trips are priced from £150 per party based on 1-5 people but the price will vary dependent on;
- The activities required
